Orange County Jaguars squeek by the Long Beach Lions to
advance to the conference finals with a 19-14 victory.
Orange County, Ca. (October 5th, 2008) - The Orange County Jaguars (10-0, 1-0) pull out out a close win against the
Long Beach Lions to advance to the conference finals vs. the Inglewood Blackhawks. The Jags seemed to be out of sync
offensively all game with only the three scoring drives to put away the game. The Jags gave up three interceptions and a
fumble in which the Lions only capitalized on two for their only points. The Jags would get things started on offense only
to set themselves back with penalties.
The Jags offense gave the Lions plenty of opportunities to win the game but the Jags defense saw otherwise. This was another
example of how defense wins championships. The Lions offense looked solid but the Jags Defense was determined, determined
not to lose the game. The Jags, playing catch-up most of the game, nearly became unravelled but stood their ground and pulled
out a narrow 19-14 victory. Now the Jags set their sights on a rematch that was last in their favor with the Inglewood Blackhawks
to see who will play in the big show.
Orange County Jaguars accomplish step one of their goal
by grounding the Inglewood Blackhawks in a 32-27 victory
and going undefeated for back-2-back seasons.
Orange County, Ca. (September 20th, 2008) - The Orange County Jaguars (10-0) go undefeated for the second consecutive
season and winning the Western Division crown once again. It was not an easy task to accomplish, especially when your season
ends playing the Inglewood Blackhawks. The Jags, however, came to make a statement and earn their respect by taking this game
as serious as a championship. In a slow start for the Jags offense it was evident that it would be a defensive battle. The Blackhawks
were the ones to strike first and that sparked an unexpected offensive show. Both teams marched methodically up and down the
field but it would be the Jags refusal to backdown that would decide the contest.
With the defense stonewalling the Blackhawks last ditch efforts an completely shutting down the Blackhawks lethal air strike, the
Jags take the victory and the Western Division Championship along with the first round bye of the playoffs, oh and go undefeated
(10-0) for an unprecedented second time while the Blackhawks fall to 9-1. The Jags now will wait for their first opponent in a first
round bye.
Orange County Jaguars out rank the Los Angeles Generals
in a 63-0 bombing.
Orange County, Ca. (September 14th, 2008) - The Orange County Jaguars (9-0) handed another loss to the ailing Generals in
convincing 63-0 victory. The Jags were firing on all cylinders as each of the Jags units scored points to make it an all around
effort. The Jags wanted to send a message to the 9-0 Blackhawks that their contest which takes place in one week is going to be
one for the ages. Taking nothing away from the Generals, who showed some promising things, they look to be a great team in the
future. Unfortunately for them they had to take on the Jags before their promise of greatness.
The Orange County Jaguar organization applauds and gives heartfelt thanks to the Generals. This a team who has struggled all
year with their only win coming off a forfeit. The Jags have a lot of respect for this team because they showed all no matter how
bad it got they still showed up and played. Many other teams have folded after lossing a handful, but the Generals kept coming
and showed heart, and knowing they were going to lose they still showed up. Maybe we can learn from them and not take our
sport for granted. Keep climbing the mountain Generals, because one day you will be on top. Next up, the Jags are sharpening
their teeth because bird meat is on the menu...you don't want to miss this one!
Orange County Jaguars blank the Bakersfield Panthers
in a 12-0 unlikely victory.
Orange County, Ca. (September 6th, 2008) - In a game that should have never happened, the Orange County Jaguars (8-0),
traveled to Bakersfield and, overcoming adversity, defeated the Bakersfield Panthers 12-0. The day started out normal, players
gathered at the bus terminal awaiting departure, while a handful of players traveled ahead as a family getaway. As game time
neared and the bus approached Hwy 99 to bakersfield, coaches began to put finishing touches on the game plan. Then a chain
of events occurred that should have sealed a victory for the Panthers and perhaps a playoff berth. The bus carrying the majority
of the Jags breaks down 45 minutes from the stadium. Panthers win by forfeit.
However, the resilience of the Jags became evident when they convinced the Panthers to postpone the game to allow for repair
of the bus and the trip out to Bakersfield to be salvaged. While awaiting for a mechanic the Jag players that traveled ahead began
to shuttle players from the bus to the field but time was running short and only one trip could be made and at game time the Jags
prepared to play iron-man football with only 15 players. The Jags did send certain personnel to start the game in hopes that the
bus would soon be repaired and make they would make it in time to play, they just hoped the score would not be to far out of reach.
But with the offensive line playing both ways and recivers playing defensive backs and linebackers playing running backs, the
Jags showed that their spirit could not be broken no matter how high the chips were stacked. In the first half the Jags held the
Panthers scoreless with a makeshift defense and the makeshift offense put up twelve points. The cavalry finally arrived to start
second half, but the Jags were exhausted. With the starters not coming off the field and the weary travelers spending hours on a
bus cramped up, the Jags could not produce another score but were strong enough to hold the Panthers to zero.
The Jags know that the Panthers could have easily accepted the forfeit and snuck in the playoffs via the backdoor, but the ownership
showed us much respect by waiting patiently and our hats are off to the Bakersfield Panthers, the Jags would like to wish them
luck with the remainder of their season and hope for the best in their future endeavors. Now the Jags set their site on the Generals,
a young and scrappy team, although winless, would like nothing better than to march in and hand the Jags their first loss.
Orange County Jaguars sink the West Coast Sharks
in an 18-0 victory in Calabasas.
Orange County, Ca. (August 30th, 2008) - The Orange County Jaguars (7-0) traveld north to Calabasas, Ca. to take on the
West Coast Sharks. The Sharks have always been a tough opponent and it showed when they took on the Jags. Both offenses
struggled but it was the Jags defense that gave the offense the momentum to score only 12 points but held the sharks scoreless
with the Jags defense adding the final 6 points.
The Jags were out of sync offensively, but it was fortunate that the defense came to play. Though the Jags won 18-0, they must
come together if they want to reach their goal of an undefeated season. The Jags thank the Sharks for a tough defensive battle
and wish them luck on the rest of their season. Next up...Bakersfield Panthers.
Orange County Jaguars silence the Lions roar with
a 24-17 victory in a tough contest.
Orange County, Ca. (August 23rd, 2008) - The Orange County Jaguars (6-0) pulled out a tight victory in a close game against
the Long Beach Lions. Both teams came to play football and the hot weather made it for an interesting game. Both defenses played
tough keeping the game close. The offensive battle was a ball controlling strategy as both offenses took their time in their drives
chewing up game clock as it was more of a ground attack than a air strike.
But once again the Jag defense stonewalled the Lions final attempts to score in hopes of stealing a victory in the final minutes of
the game. The Jaguars hold on to their undefeated record for another week as they send the Lions home with their first "L" of the
season with the close score of 24-17. Next up for the Jags, the West Coast Sharks.
Orange County Jaguars Shut out the San Luis Obispo
Panthers by the score of 34-0
Orange County, Ca. (August 16th, 2008) - The Orange County Jaguars (5-0) blank the San Luis Obispo Panthers in a tough
contest on Saturday. It was not easy keepng the panthers out of the endzone all afternoon, but the Jag defense, as it has all
year, stepped up to the challenge and handed the Panthers a shut out. Offensively the Jags had their ups and downs but pulled it
together to bring out a win. The Jags wanted to do some different things on offense so it slowed the pace of the game giving the
Jags time to only score 34 points, but a well earned 34 points. The panthers showed a lot of heart and the Orange County
Jaguars want to thank them for not giving up and making the Jags work for the win.
Next for the Jags is the much anticipated rematch from the first round playoff loss the Jags suffered at the hands of the
Long Beach Lions. The Lions who are also 5-0 are looking to prove that win was no accident and the Jags are out for
revenge. Either way it goes down, someone is going home with an"L".
Orange County Jaguars continue on their path by
defeating the California Longhorns 23-6
Orange County, Ca. (August 9th, 2008) - The Orange County Jaguars (4-0) come off their bye week picking up where they
left off. Once again the Jags offense set the tempo of the game with their precision drives controlling the clock the whole game.
It seemed that the Jags didn't even take a bye week as they marched up and down the field. With the only misscue coming on
the opening drive of the offense, the Jags moved the ball with both their ground and air assault.
However, the Longhorns did not give up. On the final offensive drive, the ball was stripped from the hands of #25 RB Alvin
Marshall after his forward progress had been stopped and taken in for the Longhorns only touchdown of the day. The Jags
defense held strong to shut down the Longhorn offense giving them their second shutout of the year, winning it 23-6, with the
Longhorns scoring on defense only. Up next the Jags will host the San Luis Obispo Panthers.
Orange County Jaguars take the sting out of the
Los Angeles Scorpions in a 46-0 victory
Orange County, Ca. (July 26th, 2008) - The Orange County Jaguars (3-0) came another victory closer in achieving their
objective of winning a championship by defeating a young and talented team of the Los Angeles Scorpions. The Jags seemed
too much for the Scorpions, however, as they controlled every aspect of the game. Offense was scoring at will and defense was
shutting it down and shutting it out. QB #12 Brandon Brooks looked near perfect as he marched the offense up and down the field.
The highlights of the game was watching as Jag running backs #2 Art White, #34 Charles "Lightning" Lewis, and #22 Quincy Wimbish
pounded the ball, punishing any and all would be Scorpion tacklers.
The Scorpions however never gave up, nor did they ever back down. Their attempts to score and not go out scoreless, however,
were spoiled by the stone wall they kept running into that is the Jaguar defense. The final score, 46-0. The Jags appreciate the
Scorpions for their efforts and hard work and wish them well on the remainder of their season. The Jags now go into their bye
week at 3-0 and will be anxious to get back on the field. The next step will be the California Longhorns, a young and hungry team
that is looking to spoil the Jags plans of LCFL dominance.
Orange County Jaguars defeat cross town rival
Tri-County Titans 24-22
Orange County, Ca. (July 19th, 2008) - The Jaguars (2-0) traveled to Irvine Ca. to take on their cross town rival,
the Tri-County Titans. QB #12 Brandon Brooks methodically marched the Jags up and down the field using his rocket
arm and elusive footwork to lure Titan defenders to sleep. Connecting with WR #88 Covy(C.T.)Thomas for a 37 yard
touchdown strike in the corner of the endzone on the opening series. On the ensuing Titans drive the Jags defense led
by LB #44 Deon Laffitte forced a safety making the score 8-0. After a quick start tha Jags offense stalled on thier
following drives giving theTitans hope heading into the half only trailing by 8 points. The Titans, making adjustments
at halftime, quickly came back to score a TD of their own in the opening series. The lead changed hands a couple times,
but the Jags run game came to life. The Jags rushing attack led by RB #2 Art White (11 carries for 103 yds and 1 rushing
TD) and RB #22 Quincy Wimbish (8 carries for 64 yds) carried the load for the second half of the game. QB Brandon
Brooks added his own footwork with 9 carries for 76 yards and finished with a stellar performance finding WR #6 Reno
Kaloni for a 59 yard touchdown strike to ice the game for the Jags.
Last but certainly not least the Jaguar defense applied plenty of pressure all night on the Titans QB. DE #11 Craig Lockett
racked up 4 sacks and 8 tackles, LB #55 Tim Lane chipped in with 3 sacks of his own and 10 tackles, while LB #41 Daryl
Warren added another 9 tackles. Defensive Captain LB #44 Deon Laffitte lead all tacklers with 13 and a forced fumble and
recovery. The Jags defense has not let up one bit since last seasons heartbreak in the postseason and will continue to
improve to become a dominating force in the LCFL.
Orange County Jaguars win season opener
vs. South Bay Skulls 35-26
Orange County, Ca. (July 12th, 2008) - As the LCFL season got successfully underway, The Orange County Jaguars (1-0)
started where they left off in the regular season of 2007. Picking up the pieces after a heartbreaking loss in the first round
of the 2007 play-offs, the Jags look to mend the heartbreak in 2008. First up is first year team the South Bay Skulls.
The Skulls showed they came out to play by taking the opening kick-off all the way for a touchdown, but the Jags were not
shaken, rather, they too came to play. After a slow but methodical start on offense the jags chipped away at the Skulls in the
first half. By the second half the jags came to life scoring the majority of their points in the third quarter.
The Jags defense gave a little but did not break. They too started off slow but as the game went on they gained momentum and by
making their adjustments the defense began to look like the dominant force it is expected to be in 2008. Led by returning middle
linebacker and defensive captain #44 Deon Laffitte, the Jags defense is shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with. The Jags
are on the hunt for what eluded them just a season ago and that is a championship and they will not stop until their goal is
achieved. Step one to that goal was deafeating the Skulls 35-26. Next step is cross-town rival the Tri-County Titans.
